Hello new members and welcome! This is a quick break down and tutorial on how to start posting to the forum! We're all still trying to figure everything out ourselves, but it seems that we're getting the hang of things pretty quickly, so we would like for you to be able to do the same.
Forum Posting
There are four different sections of each topic on the forum: Categories, Boards, Sub-Boards, and threads.
Categories have groupings of boards related to the topic of the category (Ex: The Member Specifics category has boards such as Hobbies & Interests, where members can post about their favorite things.)
Boards are basically mini-topics that break down the category so members can reach out to other members who are looking for the same topic. Boards can be broken down even further in Sub-Boards (Cue Xzibit meme haha). For example, the Hobbies & Interests board is broken down into sub-boards like Music, Movies, Knitting, Sports, etc. That way we won't have a giant cluster of all different types of hobbies, and they are easily accessible to you.
Threads are the actual discussion part of the forum. Any member can create their own thread, or add to any of the existing threads.
To create your own thread, select the proper board or sub-board you would like to post in. There will be a light green tab at the top of the list of threads that says Create Thread. Simply click that and you will be able to create your own thread. Don't forget to write a Subject so we know what you are talking about in your thread!
To post in an already existing thread to add to the conversation, you can scroll down to the bottom of the thread and you will see a Quick Reply section. Type your response into that box and click Post Quick Reply at the bottom. You can also Quote other members by selecting the post you want to quote and clicking the Quote button to the right. This will pull up a page where you can type your response to that specific person but everyone on the thread can see it.
Shoutbox Posting
The Shoutbox is located at the bottom of every page on PP. It works just like instant messaging. Type what you would like in the box, and hit Send (Or the Enter key on your keyboard) and it will pop up for everyone to see! We would prefer the Shoutbox to be a place for announcements only. Staff is working on a way to get a chat room onto the forum for conversations.
Private Messaging Members
Members who have posted 3 or more threads or responses to threads will be able to send PMs to any member on the forum, whether they are online or not. To send a PM, you can go to your message box (Top menu bar-Messages) and select Create Message on the right. There you can type in the member's name you would like to PM.
Alternatively, you can click on a member's profile, and there will be a message button to the right that you can select and send your message that way. Please remember not to spam members. New members with less than three posts will only be able to PM members of the staff.
